Eight and Twelve Week Workshop Take-home Projects

All 8 and 12 week Students will build and keep an eight foot log picnic table as a bonus to attending in 2005.

During the last week of their respective workshops periods, each student will engage in a solo project to ‘test’ what they have learned by building a log picnic table utilizing their new skills. The logs and the completed picnic tables will belong to the students upon completion. They can then take them home or even return at a later time to retrieve their project. The tables demonstrate the use of all their new skills and include sill logs, saddle notches, round notches, log floor joists and plate or purlin log installations. The tables are valued up to $1700.00 and are yours to keep. We would like to fill these workshops with registrations no later than 6 weeks prior to the respective start dates and are ‘giving back’ by sending ‘em home with something they can be proud to show off and hand down for generations to come! This is in addition to their overall learning experience in actually working on assembling a log home from scratch.

The shorter workshop participants will just not have the time to devote to building picnic tables, so, they will create a six-foot split-log bench to take home, again using some of their many new skills. We expect to see workshops fill quickly so early registration is encouraged. Students not registered by the six weeks prior to the scheduled start to their workshop will not be eligible for take-home projects. So that we can better plan activities at the school of log building, we’re adding this bonus to sweeten the experience. Planning for logs and other needs are important preparations we need to make. Register today! All it takes is a completed Registration Formand Deposit of $350.00 per participant. We still encourage friends and relatives to attend together with greatly reduced tuition for the second person too and often the tuition is then split in two. (One take-home project allowed with two attending together.)
