C'mon, Susan, let's road trip! ;)
Bret, that is one pretty house!
I understand mud, we must have dumped 80 tons of sand around the foundation of ours. If nothing else, our dog will love playing in it (she's a digger!). It did keep the water away, I'm sure it will keep the grass away too! :D

Thanks for the compliments. We are definitely excited! Its been about 6 years in the making.
The mud is a real pain. There is some clay and when it's wet it sticks to everything in large quantities. We try to keep the site leveled out so the water drains better.
If you guys are want to see it, c'mon out. The log builder will be here on Sat. the 13th putting the finishing touches on the house. He won't be so busy, and will be able to talk and answer questions.
P.S. Will you be leaving your guns at home?
:D
The first day was good although it was 30 degrees with a bit of freezing drizzle in the morning. We emptied the first truck and started the second. Should finish the second by noon and start the third today.
It's very exciting to watch your own home being built so fast. You log builders out there have got to love what you do...knowing you've just created the most awesome home for your clients!!
Bob, Mike, Tim and the others...thanks for sharing all your knowledge. It's helped tremendously!

Hi Bret,
Who is building your home? (it looks great, I really like that cedar)
Susan,
We chose a small company from BC Canada called Cascade Handcrafted Log Homes Ltd. They were recommended by our architect. We are very pleased with the cedar logs and their craftsmanship....working with Markus & Dan at Cascade Handcrafted has been awesome.
We finished the last truck today (3 total). The truck is gone and so is the crane. We saved about $750 by getting done a day early:D We have railings to install, a few wall slots to cut and some deck support posts to install along with some other smaller work before Markus leaves on Saturday.
