Boy and Girl Mussels

So Tim wants to know how to tell the sex of a mussel?

Let's see...ask one?
Look for eggs? That would be the female.
I suppose if given both genders of the same age the female will be slightly larger, thicker shell and larger foot.

But I bet Tim will have a clever answer....should he deem it worthy of his time to grace us with his words here in the "No Log Homes Here" Forum :D :D :D
