Since I am new here (obviously ;)) I'd like to get "to know" all you regularly active folks. What are some of your hobbies/interests, aside from from log homes?
I hope I am not "prying". :o :)
I'll start:
I am Log Home Designer & Part Time Project Coodinator for a Log Home Company. In lamen's Terms, I use a CAD programs to design/draw log homes and heavy timber structures. I work one-on-one with clients and pin down a desired floor plan then draw complete construction documents for their floor plan. I also have the lovely task of doing a complete Materials Take-Off (entire materials list, down to screws/fasteners) of the homes drawn as well as quote/order the materials for projects. I also coordinate deliveries/shipments and offer technical support for builders and home owners if the need arises. I love my job, most of the time. ;)
I do not live in a log home, but plan to one day. Or plan to own an island in the keys and live on a sailboat. I'd love either one. :D
I am not married but I live with my a significant other and we have a 3 year old black lab. I am huge horsepower buff. I love anything fast. I love the University of Tennesee football team and I love to have an "occasional" adult beverage, everyday.
--------------
Again, I hope I am not prying, but I think it's great to "know" the folks we're interacting with.
Thanks, and I look forward to everyone's responses!

I work as the client services manager for a very small investment firm. I had worked in retail banking for a long time and met my current boss when he was fresh out of college and we were working at the same bank. We became friends and when he moved on to open his own financial services firm, he asked me to come work for him. It's great working for someone you are also friends with (most days ;)). My job consists of making sure my boss keeps all of his t's crossed and i's dotted plus making sure our clients stay happy.
I'm currently living in my plain old stick frame home while we build our log home. I've been married to a great guy for 28 years and we have 2 wonderful kids, 2 adorable grandkids and a mutt who thinks she owns the place. :)
My husband and I both love Blues music and we try to go to at least a couple of Blues Fests every summer. I'd love to make a trek to Memphis one day and visit Beale Street, maybe head out into the countryside looking for juke joints to visit. Then head up to Chicago to experience some of the Blues there. I've been trying to learn to play the guitar for several years now...don't think I'll ever be really good at it, but it's fun to noodle around.

I am a Aircraft Investigator for the Boeing Company. The Wife and I live in a log home up in the hills in a little town called Orting, 50 miles south of Seattle. All our kids are on their own.
I used to have all kinds of Hot Rods and Sports cars. I raced Formula Fords for 11 years. I did alot of fab work on them. Into NASCAR and other forms of racing. We head down south and catch races and do the Myrtle Beach Bike Week as well.
I am pretty artsy fartsy. I make lots of the stuff in my house. I carve alot, paint, draw, etc.. I have a lot of stuff posted here. I have done 3 concrete countertops fo my house. Since then I took Fu Tung Cheng's class.

Thanks to all that replied (all both of ya's  :p :o :D :D :D)
Susan, am I understanding correctly? (after reading the threads) You're having Tim Bullock build you a home? Looking at his site, his structures are amazing. I'd love to be in a truely handcrafted home. :)
I love me some live music as well. I had a chance to see Buddy Guy a while back, but my schedule wouldn't allow me to go. I wish I could have made it. He can manipulate his guitar like he can manipulate his fingers, it's like his guitar is one of his extremeties.

Patrick, I know a guy that works for Boeing. I know him through a motorsport based message board that I frequent. He always calls his area "The Festering Sh!th0le". I don't think he's very fond of the weather there. ;) I love me some horsepower too. I've been to the Indy 500 a few times, and been to Bristol to catch the Sharpie race once. I like to piddle with things too, I get more pride in doing it myself, and I love the fact that some things cannot go out and be bought.

I'm a retired IBM senior programmer/analyst and put in 33+ years with them.
Somehow my wife and I got hooked on log homes somewhere back in the mid-'80s and never looked back. We finally got our dream home built by Mike Senty and moved in during the summer of '04.
I love things that go fast and have been a long time NASCAR fan. I was part owner of a couple different airplanes since about 1981 and sold my share in the latest one just prior to moving into our log home.
We have two kids and four grandchildren, two of which live on a dairy farm since our daughter married a 5th generation dairy farmer. Our son is a pilot for NetJets.
Back when my wife was about 23 or 24 she promised me a 'vette for my 35th birthday, but job, kids and life in general got in the way. However, as she like to tell it, I finally got it a couple weeks before the 31st anniversary of my 35th birthday.

You're preachin' to the choir! :D I've got something now I think I'll keep. ;) (Probably not . . .)
I'm not sure exactly which plane he works with (he's an engineer). I know lately he's been slavin'. He's been working literally 7 days a week!
I'm a 20+ year IBM system operator . . .with PC and Mac experience tossed in there. I'm currently working for Littleton Coin Co. (check us out at www.littletoncoin.com - yes .. we sell money) I wear many hats there, Helpdesk . .for both the AS/400 (or is it 500 now) and PC side of the systems we run. I digitize reports, fix printers, crawl under desks and trace wiring. I spec pc's for use in-house as well as for our computer's for employee's program. I've worked for a newpaper printing company . .typsetter and pasteup; A company that does price books for plumbing, electrical and heating contractors, data entry, price updates, sending data from the IBM system to the Varitype typsetting equipment, developing negs and doing "stripping of negatives; been a field office manager on construction sites for a company that builds Wal-Mart stores.
I've been married for 33 years to the same guy. We are currently working on our 3rd log home.
Don worked for 18 years for New England Wire Techonologies . .as a maintenance tech.
Now he is "semi-retired" works 3 days a week the same place I do and spends the balance of his time working on our latest log home.
We have 2 grown children and 3 grand kids. Our Daughter and Son-in-Law live in Eagle River Alaska . .both are in the Army and have served in Iraq. A grandson (10) and grandaughter (6) there.
Our Son and daughter-in-law live in Albany Oregon . .one grandson (2) there.
We have a 5th wheel camper and would like to get back into camping with it rather than living in it for 6 months at a time while we build.
We love to take the kayaks out and just paddle the stress away.
Don brews, we have a 3 tier 10gallon system in our basement. He finally dug it out of storage and has done 3 brews (a chocolate porter and a pale ale and a barley wine). It's time to make another batch of mead as well. He does wine as well.

DH is a computer Systems Analyst contractor and I am a Licensing "Guru" (a department of one at a commercial/industrial roofing corporation), which means I try to keep the company "legal" in all the states (& counties & townships & parishes & provinces & cities) across the US and Canada.
We're both heavy-duty readers - history (Civil War/military for him; American West/Native American for me) and Clive Cussler addicts. Both love archaeology too.
Married 31 years and still like each other's company better than any one else's! Two grown and married kids - no grandkids yet. Currently sharing home with a couple of lazy, happy cats, but a dog (or two, if I win) is definitely in our future. (I used to work for veterinarians - you name it, I've brought it home!) We have log-home dreamed for decades, but life has a habit of getting in our way when it comes to building one.
