Due to a mistake by our client we have to stop work for a couple of weeks on a 2 story log house that is nearing completion. I don't want to lay anyone off. We have enough dry douglas fir logs that are not spoken for to build a smaller (800-1000 square feet or so) house/cabin/cottage.

The logs are less than 10% moisture, peeled and ready to build. These are high quality house logs. Grown in the dry Southern interior of British Columbia and average about 14" in diameter. With that low moisture almost all of the shrinking has finished.

Most of our log shells come in at about $30 Canadian per square foot, or a little over $20 U.S. This is for a full scribe building. You will be hard pressed to find a lower cost and I have never seen another builder that can meet our quality for the price.

How do we do it? Simple. Very low overhead, no expensive advertising and I work 8 hours a day building....every body produces.

This a great opportunity for quick delivery at a reasonable cost.

I've been merrily bidding away and thought that a project was firmed up using these logs. Seem to be a few permitting difficulties on the other end and so the possibility to start a small building right away still exists. Last week I checked the moisture content..these logs were showing 6-7% with a moisture meter, but that is not to be trusted as it is only surface. By weight and volume it was closer to 8%. Dry wood and quality fitting make for a great house.

Do you store under cover? That's dryer than popcorn farts!

You are right Blue, they are dry. Pretty much at the moisture level that a cabinet maker, furniture builder or anyone doing fine wood work would want. For most of the summer they were uncovered. It was exceptionally hot and dry in Southern BC during July and August so I wasn't worried about repeated soakings. Now that the weather has changed they are tarped.
