Need to replace my 1/2 drill and want to upgrade to a Hawg.If you had to choose.......Would you go with Makita or Milwaukee. The makita is almost always cheaper but one review says the switch is dangerous(stays running after released) That would be a bad thing if it happened to bind while standing on top of a log! If anyone owns one let me know if this is true.
Thanks...

I have a Hole Hawg and a Timberwolf by Black and Decker. They both do well, but I got the Timberwolf at the recommendation of my electrician because it has a clutch in the unit that will break loose before you go for the merry-go-round ride. The only thing that it isn't good for is turning my 4-5/8" and 6" multispurs. I corrected that by using the appropriate holesaw on one drill and then cleaning it out with the multispur. Speaking of merry-go-rounds, I have an old 3/4" Milwaukee that has all the power in the world. I was on the wall one day and the auger really hooked up and before I could get my gloved had off the trigger, I took a ride that lasted until the cord came unplugged. It was quite a nice view of the log yard while it lasted!

Both drills have plenty of steam for my needs, ands they are triple geared. They appear to have a nice flat spot for attaching a bullseye level (important)

I've used both, My hole hawg is still going strong after 14 years. The Makita is not in the same league in this type of drill.

Never had a Makita but I have had 3 Milwaukie's over the years. They are fine tools. Managed to knock myself out with one tho'....they deserve respect...LOTS of torque.:D

Anyone interested......I have a 3/4" Skil Industrial for sale......It is so strong that you could power a post hole auger......or drill wells........
