Does anyone know of a company that makes a T&G router bit that will take 1-3/4 inch stock,. I have to route 6,720 feet of 2x6 and can only find shaper bits that size and dont want to spend $1500 on a shaper, thanks, Joe Murray:confused:

See how these T&G bits will work. Let me know what you find because I will be going the same route.

Not sure if this will do your task or not . right-tool.com has a Frued adjustable router bit that expands to 1 11/16" #FRD99-036X . Hope this helps.

Hello Joseph,

Most larger cities have at least one or two tooling shops devoted to the industrial machine shops in the area. Find one that specializes in the manufacture of carbide tooling. Once you find one you will be amazed at the number of 'off the shelf' items they have that will meet your needs. I would also recommend that you take note of the number of cutting surfaces (Flutes) available in the various sizes of cutters that will meet your needs. I personally prefer four flutes because they reduce the load on my router without clogging up. I found that six flutes can clog up quite a bit more and that two flutes puts a lot more strain on the router so that it overheats. I haven't seen too many three fluted bits but I would guess that they would do a nice job if the price was right.

Best Regards

Did you end up using a router?
I was thinking it would take some serious horsepower to route 1-3/4 " T&G in one pass.More than most routers can handle.
If you had to run multiple passes anyway, then maybe a tablesaw w/dado head would be more efficient.
I think I would be going Tims route on that.
