ceiling & soffit t&g

My plan calls for 1x6 pine t&g for the ceiling and 1x6 cedar t&g for soffits. I have since looked into building my roof with 2x6 pine t&g because it is easier & faster. I have located 2x6 tight knot spruce for less money than the 1x6 j-grade pine. But now my soffits will be spruce instead of cedar.

If a good sealer/finish is applied to the spruce soffits is this still a good application as opposed to cedar?

Bret.........Soffits are not exposed to the weather and IF the spruce is suitable dry...........should work just fine..........just use the same stain as the logwork or something a little bit lighter in color.
