Hello everybody! I stumbled across a thread from here discussing log carving in log homes from a month or so ago so I thought I'd offer any knowledge I have about the subject if you have questions. I am a full time chainsaw artist (13 years) in the Pocono Mtns. of Pa. and the V.P. of the United Chainsaw Carvers Guild. I have done many carvings for log home owners and builders. I used to build timber frame homes and conventional homes also. You can view my web page to see what can be carved from logs if you are interested at www.Tree-Creations.com or you may contact me if you have any questions regarding log carving. One neat idea that I used on my porch and in my timber frame barn (and on customer's homes) is to carve favorite quotes or poems into beams. Let me know if I can help in any way!

Since posting a pic was so easy, here's a few more.

I've carved over 4,000 sculptures, here's one of my favorite bears so far.

Those are great! Neat idea.

I had this thought, which must be outrageously expensive, because I've never heard of it, but wouldn't it be neat to have a huge tree and have a spiral staircase cut into it?

I imagine this is harder than a river rock waterfall shower! :D

Huge indeed! I've done spiral stairs for chipmunks to climb to a feeder though! Here's a few carvings made for a log cabin that were attached later after building.
