I have been in contact w/ the folks at Highland regarding my (hoped for) log home. Seemed like very knowlegable folks, answered all of my questions. I am planning a trip down to Abingdon hopefully in the next few months. Have you been a customer of theirs? If so, were you pleased with them?

Was down that way on Sunday and saw the sign with the web address. I have looked carefully at their structures in person and they are tight! I would say that they know what they are doing.
I plan to build my own.

I believe that they build with mainly Eastern Hemlock and Eastern White Pine. I had specified Eastern White Pine so the rough estimate that they gave me was for Pine. I don't know much about Eastern Hemlock, except that there is a critter (called a wooley algeaid, I think) that is attacking the Eastern Hemlock and some folks think that it may go the way of the Chestnut.
